Merae Atkin

Registered Psychologist and Practice Owner

Merae is a registered psychologist with extensive experience working with children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders, children and adults with developmental delays and typically developing children experiencing anxiety/anger or other behavioural issues.

Merae has worked in a variety of locations including early intervention organisations, mainstream schools and special schools, and private practices. In addition to her Happy Kids Psychology practice, Merae is also contracted to provide ABA services for Light Up Autism Foundation. www.lightupautism.org.au

Merae is trained in a variety of practices including cognitive behavioural therapy, play therapy, Triple P parenting program, Preschoolers with Autism Program, FRIENDS program, ABA Program Supervision, Certification in the ESDM, Positive practices in behaviour support, trauma and self-harm.

Amanda Fernandez

Psychologist/Behaviour Support Practitioner

Amanda is a registered psychologist providing NDIS services under Improved Relationships -behaviour support and Therapeutic services – Psychology.

Amanda completed a psychology major and a 4th year Postgraduate diploma of psychology program, at Monash University, and a Master in Educational Psychology at the University of Melbourne.

Amanda has a range of experience providing psychological and behavioural support to adults and children through working in both mainstream schools and the public disability sector. Amanda has worked with both typically developing children, and children and adults with disabilities including autism and intellectual disability with a variety of emotional,  behavioural, and academic concerns.

Amanda has attended trainings in positive behaviour support and applied behaviour analysis, suicide intervention, motivational interviewing, psychological first aid, cognitive behaviour therapy, and anxiety management.

Chris Mannes

Behaviour Support Practitioner

Chris is an NDIS registered behaviour support practitioner providing NDIS services under Improved Relationships – behaviour support. Chris has his own business, Happy Lives Behaviour Support, which operates in partnership with Happy Kids Psychology.to provide a range of behaviour support services.

Chris studied at the University of Melbourne, completing a BA with a double major in Psychology. Chris has also completed a Cert IV in Training and Assessment.

Chris has 20 years experience in the disability sector, working with both children and adults in a wide range of settings including schools & kindergartens, family environments, residential services and day programs. After initially working in the early intervention behavioural therapy field, Chris then worked at the Department of Human Services for 12 years in their Family Team and specialist Behaviour Intervention Support Team, before starting his own business.

Chris brings a wealth of knowledge in behaviour management and disability to his work, with particular experience in supporting individuals with Autism. Chris has also completed training run by the Institute of Applied Behaviour Analysis, along with a range of learning regarding many disability and behaviour topics.
